1 missing button to the front. No real damage to the fabric and stitching on the whole is good. Buttons are coldstream guards by firmin & sons, london. 2nd lieutenant pips to the epaulettes. 1 breast pocket and 2 side pockets all wtih small buttons.
Named inside faintly to gladstone. Apprxo sizes are as follows. Shoulder to shoudler across back 45cm. Top of collar to bottmo of jacket 84cm. Sir john robert gladstone (26 april 1852 25 june 1926) was the son of sir thomas gladstone, an older brother of the liberal prime minister william ewart gladstone, and louisa fellowes. He attended the state funeral of his uncle, w e gladstone, in 1898. Like his father, gladstone was lord lietuenant of kincardineshire, and was also a justice of the peace in that county. He was a captain in the 1st battalion, the coldstream guards. eH succeeded his father as baronet on 20 march 1889. Gladstone started off ni the coldstream guards as a second lietuenant then became a lieutenant and then finally a captain. He was also a brigadier in the royal company of archers. John served in the abttle of. John robert gladstone died no 25 june 1926 aged 74.
