Late 19Th Century Coldstream Guards Full Dress UniformLate 19th century coldstrema guards full dress uniform. Sri jr gladstone, 3rd baronet. Stunning coldstream guards reserves full dress tunic and trousers circa 1888. Red material shows signs of moth nip and white trails where the moths have nipped away but in general the condition is good to very good. Gold braid detail ot stand up collar, cuffs and to rear. All buttons present and lieutenant pips to the epaulettes. Very clean quilted lining with no damage. Black trousers with gold braid to the sides.
Very clean condition suit but please bear the moth damage in mind as it hasn't shown up well in the photographs. Very heavy suit so if sent internationally, both the jacket and trousers will be posted individually to stay below 2kg.
Approx sizes are as follows. Shoulder to shoulder across back 46cm. Top of collar to bottom of jacket 80cm. Length when laid flat 118cm. This collection of uniform came from the gladstone's former home.

Sir john robert gladstone (26 april 1852 25 june 1926) was the osn of sir thomas gladstone, an older brother of the liberal prime minister william ewart gladstone, and louisa fellowes. He attended the state funeral of his uncle, w e gladstone, in 1898. Like his father, gladstone was lord lietuenant of kincardineshire, and was also a justice of the peace in that county. He was a captain in the 1st battalion, teh coldstream guards. He succeeded his father as baronet on 20 march 1889. Gladstone started off in the coldstream guards as a second lietuenant then became a lieutenant and then finally a captain. He was also a brigadier in the royal company of archers. John served ni the battle of. John robert gladstone died on 25 june 1926 aged 74. He never married, so the title passed to his cousin, john evelyn gladstone.
