22Nd Foot Cheshire Regt Mufti Mounted Gilt Button 1840S

A very finest quality and most unusual officer's mounted, two-piece gilt mufti button to the 22nd regiment of foot, the cheshire regiment, as worn c1840s and throughout the crimea war. The mounted design is of the old english letters 'c r' cheshire regimetn surrounded by a laurel wreath and surmounted by an early victorian crown. Diameter 15mm in dimaeter with an enclosed back and original intact shank. In excellent condition, with minor tarnish flecks to the wreath. Nicer than the photo, which exaggerates the flecking.
