Thsi cover does not match the letter date but it is one of the covers (they must have been shuffled prior to my finding this little gem of a letter laid into a book of civil war battles) from the family correspondence from soldier jesse a. Letter is in very nice condition, with one small tear at margin in the half sheet (shown above and marked in red in the scan). Easily read ink hand, poor spelling. Cover has pencil writing added (unreadable and light), stamp is away, wax seal (now away) has blanched a stain in the cover from back to front.
